How to Listen to (and Enjoy!) Atonal Music, Part 1

Sticky Notes: The Classical Music Podcast

CHAPTER

The Importance of Atonal Music

Atonal music is hard for me to fully immerse myself in, but not always because of its lack of harmony. Some Atonal music also lacks structure. In the end though, I think of Schoenberg Berg and Veyron as three highly individual, and most importantly, highly expressive composers. If you don't like atonal music, don't run away at the first signs of Atonality. There's a whole host of beautiful, engaging, deeply emotional music inside of these works even if they are a bit hard to crack open.
