If you don't have an obvious acute infection, it's probably going to be the most useful starting point to assess whether chronic inflammation is a problem for you. If none of those culprits are present, then I think there's really two big dietary changes that are going to have an effect. Replacing saturated or mono-insaturated fat with polyunsaturated fat will definitely lower blood cholesterol levels but at the expense of making the LDL particles more likely to oxidize. So look at the clues and tailor your approach to you.
