Ancient Egypt and the Sea Peoples

Rameses the third ruled over a country that was often at war, and this caused great pressure on egypt's economy. It seems as though there were food shortages, exasperated by the struggling economy. Nobody is really sure who the sea peoples are, but there is a wonderful air of mystery which surrounds them. Some historians believe that the philistines originated from one group of sea peoples called the peleset. This may be the root of the origin of the name palistine to refer to the modern region of the levent. For me, the whole displacement theory is very interesting. A lot of the reginal disruption was caused by a displaced people just looking for somewhere to live
