The Importance of Proper Care for Labor Epidurals
We need to, you know, pay careful attention to labor analgesia and recognize early a failed epidural. One study actually showed that 85 percent of failed epidural catheters can be successfully converted to surgical anesthesia by withdrawing the epidural catheter by one centimeter. If there's any concerns about fetal heart rate tracings, again, we want to reevaluate how the epiduralCatheter is functioning in anticipation of the need to convert to a surgical anaesthetic. And ultimately, prevention is the most important thing that we can do for these patients.
