Retail sales are way above trend if you look at them on an historical basis. As consumers start to pull back that will mean less demand, and that will be, unfortunately, some of the retails will be left with extra goods on their shelves. This will lead to lower prices, which is ultimately what the fed wants in terms of a reducing inflation overtime.
