i really like this huge influx of Asian-Americans trying to make films but the only thing they ever want to write or make films about is like there's sad immigrant parents and how hard that is. i feel like people of color and like women have been funnelled into this box of what diversity looks like to a white person so it's really frustrating because we have our stories are so diverse and rich and varied, he says.
