The Cost of Development

A lot of these frameworks in which modern software is written are extremely convenient for writing the software in. That doesn't necessarily mean that they run faster on the end user's machine but they're developed faster and hopefully less buggily on the development side. And so what's going on here at least to my mind is a kind of a moving of the burden from the people doing the programming to the people who are using the program.
