Dry mustard powder is incredible. I love having it around just to add a pinch somewhere where you don't want more liquid in something. Black pepper over your mac and cheese makes like perfect sense. Be mindful of cooking out that Beshamel, really pay attention to that seasoning. And if it's under seasoned, it's going to give you some more of that indeterminate cardboard kind of flavor.
