Jumping the Line
The line is really important for cutting to a close up where the background is wildly out of focus. If there's anything in the frame that helps the audience orient, you can be wherever you want over the line. The line is just really a thig. When you're on like a hundred and 50 millimeter lens and the background is all blurred, then the audience can really tell and get disoriented if you're over the line,. But that nuance takes longer to say than there's a line in the scene. And i'm sure i want to take charles's classes. I bet he does.
