CHAPTER

The Alternative to Informed Consent

I don't think there is any good way of telling doctors how they should work with patients in making decisions. I think that one of the best ways of doing it is to cause the physician to become seriously ill for a protracted period and to have the physician be the patient. Sometimes themselves testify to how powerful that is in changing their approach to informing patients. But as I said to you either during our recording or shortly before it, the entire population of mankind has such a range of variation on every axis that I cannot imagine a way of describing what should be done by a physician.
