Brian Council: Dr. Wolfgang Smith is a mathematician, physicist and philosopher of science born in Vienna in 1930. He escaped both the Nazis and the Russian invasion of Poland and made his way to New York City on a merchant vessel at the outset of World War II once in America. After taking his doctorate at Columbia University, he served as professor of mathematics at MIT. The world is moved by great thinkers by people who are radical enough and courageous enough to come up with ideas that buck against an entire tradition.
