Reverend Strayke is the most compelling character in the whole book for me. The feebless of these people here has a tragic sense of life, the ruthlessness and total commitment to sacrifice all merely human values. That is what I couldn't get out of any of the churches. They are blinded, blinded by their filthy rags of humanism,. Their culture and humanitarianism as well as by their sins. And that is why I find myself joining with the communists and materialists and anyone else who is really ready to expedite the coming.
