The Jedi Council and the Force Illusion

The Jedi council is seemingly out of touch and as politically sensitive as anything. They want to maintain this position of power, they don't want to be extending themselves. And that ultimately ends up having them fighting a war, which they really weren't meant to do anyway. There's actually a subplot where they try to assassinate Count Dooku for a time.
