The History of the Electric Telegraph

In 1746, the Abbe Nole connected 200 monks with wires that are 25 feet long. He gave one monk an electric shock and it went all the way along the line. This got people thinking about how to use electricity for some kind of signaling. The battery was invented right at the beginning of the 19th century; then also the electromagnet. That is the basis of the electric telegraph.
