The Lord's Supper is not a sacrifice for the dead to be paid for some special votive need, he says. The teaching that the priest by his indolible nature now had the power to re-sacrifice Jesus on an unbloody manner became done in Latin, which many people did not understand. Do we respond in prayer and praise? Yes. With gifts? Yes. But the heart and center of that inter of being gathered with Christ in his flock is to receive what he has there to feed us in word and in meal.
