How to Find the Bottles in the Ground
Beale planted the bottles in a concrete box called a vault with four sides, but no lid. The team dug down into the soil with a shovel to find them. They knew the bottles were 16 inches below the surface. When they were close, they stopped shoveling. David had a suspicion that they'd read the map. One member was holding the map inside his jacket to keep it from getting wet.
