Some businesses are concerned about legal uncertainty that the reforms could provoke. There was a strike on Monday, or about 200 tech companies that said they were going to either close themselves or make it possible for their employees to attend protests against the bill. It wasn't crippling for the economy. In future, it really depends above all on what history drug, which is the main union in Israel, does as to whether future strikes have the ability to make the government change course.

Alphabet earnings beat expectations, a new report from the IMF says the future of the global economy is looking a little brighter than it did a few months ago, and the troubled regional bank PacWest has agreed to merge with Banc of California. Plus, the FT’s James Shotter explains the role Israeli businesses are playing in protesting the country’s judicial reforms.
