I wonder if taking white noise as satire would be more amusing or more fruitful to read. I think Delilio is conscious that he's writing these characters in this sort of absurd and you know overly self-infatuated naval Gazy way. So I really do read it in that in that spirit so perhaps if you ever go back and reread it I think that would be helpful to to take that approach to it not that necessarily one is wrong or right but I can certainly agree with you that if you sort of take it at face value and don't emphasize the satirical parody aspect of it that it can come off as overly solipsistic and sort of taking itself way too seriously etc
