Neo liberalism is a set of economic principles emanating from key thinkers in the sixties that was widely influential in shaping us. Scholars point to the election of regan ind the us as sort of the moment at which new liberal economic ideas, which had largely been academic up to that point, became actual policy. And policies that were implemented turned the government away from the belief that the government's principal role was to provide a social safety net for citizens.
