The latin origin of the word confidence is confida, meaning to trust. When we're putting ou ves in an uncomfortable situation, there has to be some type of trust that something terrible is very unlikely to happen. And if you look at anybody who's successful in any field, you'll see they're putting themselves in new situations all the time where they don't even necessarily expect to be perfect.
