The investor state dispute settlement system ISDS which was set up in 1966 the world is one of the most important and potent ways that corporate power is enforced around the world. Countries susceptible to being sued by multinational corporations for enacting sovereign policies in the interest of their populations are the ones who get to court. The governments aren't telling their people about these systems even though they're infringing on their sovereignty because they're working for the corporations. It's really is a conceptual error to think of the state in the West but also in the developing world as separate to the corporation they are now one and the same.
