The female engagement teams were part of the US military's special forces in Afghanistan. They would go on direct action missions, but also did village stability operations. The team members had to be fit and have a certain level of social skills. Zoe Lister-White describes how she was able to recruit people who wanted to do it. She says there is an almost coltish obsession with this group of people.
