I recently wrote a post that was trying to spell out a simplified concrete scenario in which an AI model is trained in a certain way. And this causes the model to develop goals that are opposed to humans, which in turn eventually causes it to take control of the world. I describe how that motivation would give it reason to try to launch a tool or take over the world from humans. That's the structure of that blog.
