As we slowly decreased the amount of unethical studies you were seeing, you started calling studies unethical that you wouldn't have before. So in other words, you expanded your concept of what Canada is, an unethical study,. Just because you were seeing fewer unethical studies over time. In some cases, it's clearly very, very good. There are some social problems for which we must remain vigilant. And our goal is to reduce them to zero and eradicate them from our societies.
In this episode we explore prevalence induced concept change. In a nutshell, when we set out to change the world by reducing examples of something we have deemed problematic, and we succeed, a host of psychological phenomena can mask our progress and make those problems seem intractable -- as if we are only treading water when, in fact, we’ve created the change we set out to make.
