The Third Theory, Cultural Backlash
In the 70s in a lot of different countries that are becoming richer, you begin to see what gets called the post-material shift. People's politics and opinions become less responsive to their direct economic condition. Environmental issues coming to be much more dominant. So that's materialism. And so cultural backlash is basically what I would call like a post-materialist right emerging,. Right wing that its fundamental argument is that this shift has gone too far. We don't recognize this place anymore.
