The Met Office at Supercomputer, a Cray XC40, can do 14,000 trillion calculations per second. That's more than 2 million per second for every man, woman and child on the planet. It has to incorporate vast amounts of data before it can even run a forecast. Chris Harper: If you don't have a good starting point, you won't get a good forecast.
