The Importance of Patrolling Wildlife in Peru

On a normal day, our Rangers are patrolling and monitoring wildlife. Enforcement is something we do periodically where it's like when we need enforcement, we collaborate with the police. A lot of times we have to actually pay the police to come out and do their job out there. We found after COVID that there were like, I think it was 17 football fields cut right in one of the core areas that we're protecting. But then the people had heard us coming and they ran away. So there's no one to arrest. And it's absolutely brutal work but that is day to day, that is what we're doing.
