The FBI's Campaign to Destroy and Expose Martin Luther King

Hoover believed that Martin Luther King was a fraud, a hypocrite. He presented himself as a moral leader, but whose private life was steeped in sin. Hoover would often use that fraternity to recruit generations of FBI agents. The original mission for the FBI was to learn extent of Levison's influence on King gave way to a new mission: destroy and expose King for the sexual deviant and liar that Hoover believed he was.
