The First English Account of the Region of Florida
Sailor John Spark gave the first English account of Florida. The fleet headed north through the Caribbean and then took the Gulf Stream along the eastern coast of Florida. They dropped anchor A-N-K-E-R to ask the native people of the region if they knew the whereabouts of the French settlement. Eventually, the expedition reached the French settlement, but only a small portion of original 200 settlers were still there.
