I wrote a play called the Colin hour about basically was a response to when the fellow who shot John Lennon pulled catcher in the rye out of his pocket. The whole thing was very disturbing. And I wanted to write about how we shouldn't as individuals hang onto these literary characters and invest so much in them as public figures.
