The Tension of Telling Lies

I love the way every conversation is laden with somebody's lying. The Miles Raccocykin books basically start with, here's a little lie, and how far can this lie go? I think the thing to note there is that the lies are the action. There have to be consequences to the lies in order for it to be intriguing.
