After the war, many psychoanalysts bitterly opposed labotomy. They thought it was a category mistakeyou you couldn't cure a psychological ailness by damaging the brain. But others of them actually provided a psychoalytic explanation for why the bottomy worked. Ah, the frontal loves were the super ego, the ego.
