What Does the History of Edward II Tell Us About Women in the Middle Ages?
There would be lots of things that I would be reading from historians where they're saying oh, by this point Edward, he's a senile old man and he's just besotted by love. But even in the early 1370s there's no evidence of that he's still traveling the country, he's still taking charge of government. The only reason a man like Edward could possibly lose control to Alice is if he'd gone a bit old and senile. There's no way that he could actually love her, that would be crazy.
