Dawn's Journey to Ceres

Dawn is about to enter the orbit of Ceres. It inhabits the outer reaches of the main asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter. We believe that both Ceres and Vesta are protoplanets. They were on their way to forming larger planetary embryos.
