The Differences in Forest Sizes and Sizes
One percent of the landscape is in what we would call actually old forest. Oak has gone down in preponderance particularly in southern new england. There are fewer lunkers big-ass giant trees big old trees there's way fewer down dead trees and woody material plays a really important habitat nutrient cycling and water role. Old forests have been worked hard right they were it was sheep pasture then it was cows, wool milk wood from these places you know over a few centuries so they're much depleted.
