The End of History
In the book, there's a more elaborate scenario that goes back to an earlier stage of the war. The story at least makes some effort to say, well, if the war had gone differently in a few key respects, how might the outcome have looked different? I think what you were saying about the end of history fantasy about it, like, oh, no, only people knew, then this would change everything. All it requires is well-intentioned people sharing information that doesn't need to be politically shaped or anything like that. There's no need for politics. It just happens once you share the correct information.
