The Battle of Ronville
During the latter part of the afternoon, the company in the southern part of beneville bore the brunt of the fighting. The position was not finally handed over till midnight. This ended a great day for the seventh parachute battalion. They had held the west bridge head and had had 21 hours continuous and hard fighting. Casualties had amounted to 60 killed and wounded. It was, however, the ronville front that really worried me. If we had succeeded in blowing the bridges over the dive between ourselves and the enemy reserves in the harvre area, we need not expect serious trouble for a little while from the east.
