Diadotus' Speech to the Athenians
Diadotus spoke in defense of his previous opposition to the original plan of mass executions and enslavement. He argues that the issue was not a question of mightilyne's guilt, but whether Athens should seek vengeance. Because Cleon had implied that a rejection of his penalty would be a sign of weakness, Diadotus shrewdly urges the Athenians to vote for his proposal.
