The Sign of Immanuel in Isaiah Chapter 7
In Matthew's use of Isaiah chapter 7 verse 14, the prophecy is directly related to the fulfillment of Jesus' birth of a virgin. It seems more likely that tis the latter, which raises the further question of the identity of the woman in question. More support for this theory comes from the connection between Immanuel and the child of Isaiah chapter 9 verses 6 to 7.
