What Is Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder?
In medieval texts, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you can't really categorize it. But if you look at medieval art and medieval images of women from the high to late medieval period, they literally all look like this. Wearing makeup means you are like Jezebel or God tries to try to make you a murderous person. You're just supposed to naturally live up to this rigid idea of what beauty is that everyone demands It's completely different but we have an incredibly different idea of whatbeauty is now.
