Suicide Risk in Psychiatry
In canada, we have 11 suicide desths per a hundred thousand person years. Women engage in non fatal suicidal behavior at a rate about three to four to one. If you're a clinition and if you have a man or a woman sitting in front of you, the most important thing isn't their gender. On an individual level, the mostimportant thing is whether they've been recently discharged from hospital. One out of every 600 psychiatric admissions on can end in a suicide death in hospital.
