Are the Heavy Elements in the Stars Really Fused?
If you have a massive enough star to start from something like eight times the mass of our sun, then this last stage is it puffs out to be a red super giant. Then it collapses into what we call a type two supernova. And then you can get like a black hole or a neutron star at its heart. So in a way, stars do fuse iron and make heavier elements, right? I mean, they don't just make it at the end of their lives, but also in these new ways, they do make the heavier elements.
