The Relationship Between Press and Government
In the 1970s over 200 journalists were on the payroll of the CIA. The New York Times, Washington Post, CBS allowed the CIA to use their corporations as cover for for spies for CIA operatives. To me that was a very unhealthy relationship and I think the church investigation showed that it was. It hasn't gotten any better sense then there was a bit of reflection among journalists about the performance with respect to the Iraq war.
