There's a culture of silence maintained by this Marxist view of what literacy means. White talk is kind of the babble as they put it, that white people engage in when they start to realize that they're being racist or being accused of racism. It's sort of a symptom of what later after this paper got called white fragility. So when you get caught out and somebody says something, don't you think that's kind of racist? You kind of stumble around you like, "Well, I wouldn't say it's really racist"
