Panera Cares and Racial Profiling
Panera claimed that college students in Boston, Massachusetts mobbed the Panera Cares restaurant and disturbed homeless patrons. Ron Shake, the former CEO of Panera said that Panera Caring actually led to racial profiling within the restaurant itself. Customers got upset too, telling staff that the homeless people eating their smelled bad and they couldn't eat their food. And as at-risk customers began entering the locations, Panera employees were now dealing with drug use in the bathroom.
