The Safety of Angle Blocks

There are not many complications with the angle block. It's very low, less than 1% and if you do see a complication, it will typically present as a transient parastasia. Those can occur from doing the injection because you can theoretically go through the nerve or from application of the tourniquet but it is rare. Only one patient had an episode of hypertension and superventricular tachycardia that could have been related to lidocaine toxicity.
