Is the Market Cap Weighted Index Changing the Dynamics of the Markets?

I think a lot of people get involved at the options market, not really understanding it, and then eventually get burned. If everyone is buying three week options on tessla, i would imagine that that options market can be very one sided,. And some one at some points can make a lot of money off that.
