A gutenberg galaxy was all about print, a print technology. Gutenberg the inventor of the modern printer press and arguably in much of western civilization. But it goes back a little bit further, to the invention of the alphabetand the alphabet combined with the printing press. And this was a major delineation the time before the alphabet, which he refers to as pre literacy, and the time after, which is the illiteracy.
