The Second New Deal Was Just Crap Thrown at the Wall
A lot of the new deal was just sort of crap thrown at the wall. There were some things that FDR did that are utterly defensible and that people want to point to those things. It's very much like looking to Victor Warbon or to Fidel Castro or to Stalin's Russia. The details, they don't really care about what they just like is the idea that our team is going to be in power now. And we'll figure out how to make this stuff work.
