The Importance of Reducing Energy Use
Renewable energy does not come out of thin air, but the materials required to capture and transform solar and wind power into usable energy for us is material intensive. Rachel DeGro: We need renewable energy, but crucially, we also just need to consume less energy. The capitalist production system devours energy for extraction and production and transportation of material goods - it's an energy sucking machine. How could we restructure the economy in a way that would provide people with access to what they need through a pro-ecological economy?
